It all started with tomatoes....
When a friend gave me my first Gurney's seed catalog, I realized I could start my own tomato plants instead of relying on what my local garden center carried.
I discovered there were other tomatoes besides Early Girl or Better Boy (I still grow a few of them for my own garden every year)
But I fell in love with the old fashion tomatoes, the non - Hybrids . These are the plants that our grandparents grew and a lot of them were falling by the wayside as the Hybrids were more commonly available. Thanks to renewed interests, they are coming back.
Anyway, the trouble began when I planted the seeds I wanted for my garden. I always planted more than I could use, just a little extra for that, 'just-in-case' something- (frost, bugs, tornado- your choice here) wiped out the first batch in the ground. That way I'd still have tomatoes no matter what, but rarely anything like that ever happened and every year I ended up with a back porch full of 'just-in-case' tomato plants. I couldn't let them go to waste, so the extras went to friends & family.
Anyway, long boring story short; I really love sharing and I've been supplying friends and family with tomato plants for about 20 years now, with the addition of annuals, perennials and the occasional small tree.
I grow herbs because I fell in love with them and had a hard time finding the ones I wanted, and it seems I wasn't the only one. At my part time garden center job, I was asked almost daily for certain herbs, but sadly was only stocked with a certain "popular" few from the supplier.

I believe that herbs & vegetables grown the organic way are much healthier for you to eat and that using organic methods in your own garden is better for our environment.
I'm not certified Organic yet, but I plan on being so soon. In the mean time, Everything I grow is grown by organic methods.
No chemical fertilizers, No growth inhibitors, No insecticides,
No fungicides.
Just safe, sustainable gardening...
